The owner of Yum Brands who umbrellas Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut are trying something new, Asian Fast Food. Banh Shop kicked off on the 12th of September in Dallas, with one more setting to open up at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport later this month. The type of food is set to be Southwest Asian cuisine with some Vietnamese sandwiches in the mix. Yum Brands claims it to be a fast-casual diner, in competition with likes of Chipotle, and Panera Bread.
This could be a hit or miss to Yum Brands to start off, Dallas was a good step. I think it would be good to try, and interesting because one of their items on the menu includes; a sandwich piles chicken, red onion, scallions and noodles on top of a baguette, topped with a cucumber-cilantro aioli. Noodles on a sandwich? I have never heard of anything like that, so it'll be interesting. But the next time I'm in the Dallas area I might have to try it out.
